Moxie’s Dark Chocolate Cake

The arrival of fall seems to ignite a natural craving for all things rich and decadent - especially when it comes to dessert. Whether it’s deep bowls of candy for Halloween, pumpkin spice lattes, or hot chocolate with an extra dollop of whipped cream, dessert always seems to be top of mind! At Moxie’s, as soon as there is a nip in the air our dreams seem to be consumed by our decadent Dark Chocolate Cake. We like to consider ourselves as super fans of this dessert, and it’s easy to see why. To say it’s merely delicious is an understatement – this dish serves to please! We wanted to explore the inner workings of this tasty treat to better understand what makes us crave it!

Chocolate Chunks

The cake itself is made in-house, and utilizes a rich, dark, Belgian Callebaut chocolate. Each and every cake must meet a high standard of richness and moistness to ensure an optimal fresh taste when delivered to your table.

The best part of the Dark Chocolate Cake is its hidden concave centre. This area holds a traditional dark chocolate ganache that when heated, melts perfectly over the entire cake and pools into the bowl.

Chocolate Shavings

To balance the dish, we pair the cake with french vanilla ice cream, and complete it with dark chocolate shavings for added texture and a well-rounded finish. The warm cake slowly melts the ice cream, and the result is a perfect complement to the chocolate. Each bite becomes an irresistible fusion of melted chocolate and moist, decadent cake, countered by cool vanilla infused ice cream. Trust us, this cake is what dessert dreams are made of!
